From our sister blog, Catwalk Queen... Not even the blustery wet weather could put off thousands of fashion fans who queued up to get their hands on the new Jimmy Choo for H&M collection early Saturday morning...
I remember the days when vain people like myself had to suffer the discomfort of wet and muddy feet when the weather turned nasty, because wellie-boots in those days were so damned ugly we didn't want to put them anywhere near our precious feet.
Shoes can be hard to get rid of. Not only because we get so oddly attached to them, but because charity shops don't always want them unless they're in reasonable nick. There seems little point in dropping off a pair of flimsy old sandals that will probably fetch no more than your bus fair to the shop...
If I could pick out a 'dream shoe' for this year - a style that I wouldn't expect to wear on more than a few special occasions but would savour every moment when I did - then I think Guiseppe Zanotti's star-embellished peep toe pumps would have to come top of the list.
I did a bit of a double-take when I was told that this trainer was part of the new range from Vivo Barefoot, the eco chic range from Terra Plana, whose styles are usually a bit jelly-like and are generally very minimal.
Shoes looks so much prettier when they've got a decorative fabric lining inside, don't you think? I'm sure I'm not the only one to have bought a pair based at least in part on how much I loved the bit that nobody (but me) will ever see. Or perhaps I am.
Statement heels really are here to stay, and here's another variant on them that I haven't spotted before. US underground and retro store Modcloth has come up trumps with these frilled shoes, which are set off by a distinctive 'unicorn horn' style heel. modcloth, unicorn
Iron Fist specialise in making shoes that won't be everyone's cup of tea, so they've achieved everything they set out to do with these 'Digi Skulls' pumps. With a gigantic concealed platform and a smattering of sequins, they're the ultimate in glam goth footwear.
Boohoo.com is by no means a new entry into the buzzy world on online retailing. Peaking from behind ASOS.com with it's cheap and cheerful range of clothing and accessories, the brand is slowly emerging as a strong contender for my shopping sprees.
You'd expect a rock chick like Agy to have suitably crazy shoes, and the one label you can rely upon for kookiness is Irregular Choice. Sounds like a match made in heaven!
We appreciate that L.A.M.B shoes need to be worn with a certain...attitude, but what do you think of these irregular patchwork design on these sky high court shoes?
In the couple of years they've been around, Vivienne Westwood's 'Dragon Lady' shoes - rendered in lickable rubber by Melissa - have already reached cult classic status. The dainty shoes, with their have proven irresistible to fashionistas and are already available in several colour combinations.
Pewter is a shade that seems to work particularly well on shoes, providing shine and intrigue without straying too far into 'bling' territory. There's plenty of pewter on the catwalks this season, and even more on the high street, which is where we found these styles. Seen from top left, clockwise:
If the shapes and styling on these shoes by Cleo B look oddly familiar, that could be because designer Cleo Barbour was more than a little inspired by the famous Art Deco architecture of New York City when she developed the range.
I think it's important to look out for brighter coloured shoes in winter because let's face it: you're not going to see much of that outside your window.
Despite the fact that this bow-backed style is red hot right now, Faith have put their 'Cenha' court shoe on sale this week, bringing the price down to £35; a great price for a highly wearable and fashion forward party shoe.
I was almost starting to wonder if we could justify a Mary Janes feature every week, but just as it looked to be on its way out the style seems to be kicking back with loads of elegant and playfully feminine MJ styles tripping into view. This one from Moda in Pelle is particularly darling, and it's on sale, too.
